Virtual Online Lessons

While Rhapsody is now offering many of its lessons live and in-person at the store, Rhapsody is continuing to offer virtual online lessons from the safety and comfort of your home. Instructors are able to communicate directly with their students for nearly any instrument, virtually. Our phone will remain open for all of your questions and needs. Please read all of the details below.

WHAT YOU NEED AND HOW TO GET SET-UP FOR YOUR VIRTUAL ONLINE LESSON.

Rhapsody is now providing lessons through the ZOOM app. This app is a free download for your PC, Android phone, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Fire Tablets, Chromebooks and more. Please see further details and instructions below.

  • Download the ZOOM app on the device you will be using. Rhapsody recommends a laptop if you have one.
  • Follow the instructions to create your ZOOM account.
  • A meeting request will be sent to your email on-file that you can add to any calendar that will allow you access to your online lesson.

IMPORTANT NOTE
: If you do not receive a virtual lesson email, please fill out this form below as it means we do not have your current email in our database or you unsubscribed from our e-newsletters. You can also call us at 623.465.7060.

Would you like to confirm your current email and Phone?

HOW TO CONNECT TO YOUR LESSON

Please follow these easy steps to connect to your instructor for your video lesson.
  • Open the ZOOM app on your device.
  • An email will go out to you where you will see your personal MEETING ID # and PASSWORD with an option to add your lesson to your Outlook or Gmail calendar.
  • You can then click on the link in your calendar invite each week or type in your unique MEETING ID # and password, and you'll be put in a virtual queue.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your MEETING ID# and PASSWORD will not change. Make sure to keep them in a safe place as it is your consistent access to your lesson.

Just like our regular in-store lessons, all cancellation and no-show rules still apply.  See our FAQ page for info.
We are continuing to fine-tune our online virtual lesson process to ensure we are providing the best experience possible. If you have any issues or needs, please call the store at 623.465.7060

Here are some tips, tricks and cool things about your virtual online lesson.

  • Make sure that your back isn't facing a bright light source like a window. Re-position your device so that its back is facing the light source.
  • Your instructor will help you position your device in the most optimal place for your lessons at the beginning of each lesson.
  • There can be a lag between you and your instructor. This is normal. As you go, you and your instructor will find ways to adjust times where you are playing together or need accompaniment. From the professional instructors we've talked to who use this platform, they have found creative ways around this that actually enhance the instruction!
  • Headphones can help with delays but they must be headphones without a microphone (headphones are not required)
  • Consider purchasing a USB microphone to connect to your computer. Rhapsody highly recommends this microphone available on Amazon (USB microphones are not required).
  • Try to have a quiet area to set up in.
  • If you are using a laptop of desktop computer, we highly recommend a good USB microphone to enhance your experience. Rhapsody recommends this microphone on Amazon. This is not required.
  • If you are having trouble hearing your instructor or the video is being weird, please stop them and let them know!
  • If there are issues with ZOOM at any time, instructors can use FaceTime providing that they and you both have iPhones.
  • You can record your lesson and it is okay if you do!! You can then save it and watch it again to further your learning!
  • Finally, be respectful and patient with each other. This won't be perfect, but the connection together, learning music, will be!
  • Most importantly, keep having fun!!
ZOOM APP RESOURCES
Please note that Rhapsody's instructors are experts at music but not always experts at online applications. Please continue your patience with them and we encourage all of you to better understand the ZOOM app on your end as well. Here are helpful videos directly from ZOOM's video resources on Youtube. Please see the link below to easily access this help and don't be scared to share a tip or two back to your instructors if you find something helpful along the way!
