Welcome Pete Rose to Rhapsody!

October 23, 2017 - Rhapsody School of Music is excited to announce that Pete Rose has joined the Rhapsody team as our new Store Manager as well as our interim Rock Band director. To say his passion is music is not the full story because it's also been his life's career. Pete has managed one of the most successful music schools and gear shops in the country and is also a professional musician. What this means for our families and students is simple. We are committed to excellence and exceeding your expectations at every turn and with Pete managing the shop, this is what you can start to expect. Read more about Pete below:

Pete is originally from Northeastern Ohio where he started playing guitar and singing professionally at age 12 after being inspired by the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. After high school, where he played low brass and studied with the principal tuba chair of the Cleveland Orchestra, he enlisted in the US Army Band program where he graduated top of his class.

Upon leaving the Army, he proceeded to spend decades playing up and down the West Coast, at one point landing at San Diego State University’s jazz studies program where he was the first person ever to be allowed to major on electric bass.

Pete has performed with artists as diverse as Bowser (Sha NaNa), to the Coasters, Broadway star Chita Rivera, various members of Santana and Tower of Power, and has studied privately with studio legend Carol Kaye. He still plays and records to this day.

All this time, Pete also worked in music retail, spending the last 14 years at Skip’s Music in Sacramento, CA managing a branch store, and helping to coordinate Skip’s award-winning private lesson and group performance programs.

Pete has experience in many different aspects of the music business from playing a wide variety of musical styles, to songwriting, jingle singing, and even live recording engineering , for which he was nominated for a Grammy in 1988.

Pete has recently relocated to the Phoenix area and is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the staff and management at Rhapsody. He is passionate about music education and looks forward to meeting and working with all of the students and families at Rhapsody.

Please make sure to say hi to Pete the next time you are in and ask him how he can help you out. Welcome, Pete!
